Certified gold by the RIAA 696. Aside from the Milwaukee trio's 1981 debut, the Violent Femmes have made a career of tacking one or two great songs onto otherwise mediocre albums-so this 1993 best-of is perfect for consumers. While it's fair to say that they never retained the force of their first album, they sure beat most any other band I can think of in originality and vitality. Read more. The eighties was a special place in time for bands like this and this cd proves the point. A band from Wisconsin that can show so much heart about the feelings that comes from music and how to express it comes to true form. From the early days from there self titled album, which is a master piece upon it self, to the introspective later albums that take from what the Talking Heads were doing, this album shows it all. Gordon Gano vocals gives you the feeling that you can only hope for in a pop song, that boy like charm that even comes out in track five about being locked inside of his house. Brian Richie which was one of the best acoustic bass players around, check out Permanent Record on Rhino, rocks the bass in a mullet and a dishiekie. Plus you got Victor DeLorenzo who could do so much with a snare and brush set. This collection gives you the hits such as Blister In The Sun, Kiss Off, and Add It Up, but you'll be a fan when you here Out The Window.
