The Guitar and Other Machines - The Durutti Column. Лента с персональными рекомендациями и музыкальными новинками, радио, подборки на любой вкус, удобное управление своей коллекцией. Continuing the string of excellent Durutti reissues, its 1996 reappearance included several other studio tracks done around that time, notably the moody and mysterious LFO Mod, which only appeared on the Valuable Passages compilation in the U. and Dream Topping, featuring a reunion with A Certain Ratio singer Jeremy Kerr. If The Guitar And Other Machines came to represent a change of tack for Durutti Column, it was neither planned or at the expense of Vini Reillys original vision. Perhaps thats why it worked so well. But the key to this album and indeed a fair amount of the Durutti Column canon is that it works more as a whole than as individual tracks. Reilly employs the instruments and sounds available and melds them to his own particular ends with of course much help from his fellow musicians, in the same way that a painter uses different coloursshades. There is a very visual element to them and images are easily conjured by this listeners mind for one. Album 1987 18 Songs. The Guitar and Other Machines. The Durutti Column. Alternative Durutti Column are an English post-punk band formed in 1978 in Manchester, England. The Durutti Column - English Landscape Tradition. The origin of The Guitar and Other Machines was the Christmas present given by Factory founder Tony Wilson to Durutti mainman Vini Reilly in 1985. He gave me another kick and bought me a load of electronic instruments, revealed Reilly at the time. I never dreamt of getting into this electronic thing, and I struggled and fought and stayed up til half seven in the morning and really worked on it. I know that Tony's got this vision and I persevered. And I found a way of using a sequencer that isn't like New Order - it's my way, and it's my music. Gogul
While of absolute recommendation due to additional tracks which are not appearing on the LP edition of the album, there is a tiny "error" of sorts - omitting the child's voice sample at the very tail end of "Don't Think you're Funny" (which appears on the LP).
