Act 2. Scene 3. Well, Schweik, How'd Things Go Today Robert Kurka. Chicago Opera Good Soldier Švejk is the abbreviated title of an unfinished satirical dark comedy novel by Jaroslav Hašek. The original Czech title of the work is Osudy dobrého vojáka Švejka za světové války, literally The Fateful Adventures of the Good Soldier Švejk During the World War. Švejk has become a byword in the Czech Republic. The book is also the most translated novel of Czech literature: it has been translated into over 50 languages. Scene Three Police Headquarters: Schweik Good Evening, Gentlemen, I Hope You're All Well. Scene Four A Cell: Schweik Good Evening, Ev'rybody, It's Been A Lovely Day. Альбом 2000 Песен: 43. Kurka: Premieres: Suite from The Good Soldier Schweik, Serenade for Small Orchestra, Symphony No. 2 - The Louisville Orchestra, Robert Whitney. Robert Kurka was a Chicago-area composer of Czech ancestry who, fortunately for us, finished his magnum opus, The Good Soldier Schweik, just before he died at the age of 36 in 1957. It's a fantastic romp, a delight from start to finish. Kurka's brilliant score preserves the bite and the hilarity of Jaroslav Hasek's satiric novel of World War I, whose hero is a symbol of survival in a world gone mad.
