The name of the ensemble comes from an imaginary radio station in Tarifa, a small town in the Spanish province of Cadiz, Andalusia, the closest part of Spain to Morocco. Instead of simply fusing musical styles as they are currently known, Radio Tarifa went back in time to the common past of those. Released: Feb 2004. Label: ARIOLA. This album is an absolute gift to anyone who hasn't been able to see Radio Tarifa live. They are the original poets of the North African-Spanish music crossroads, and songs like Tangos Del Agujero and Nina live in that fertile territory. Of special note: Cancion Sefardi, which draws out the oddly delicious melancholy of a sixteenth century Sephardic Jewish song. Radio Tarifa celebrated its tenth anniversary with the 2004 Latin Grammy-nominated Fiebre Fever, a live album recoreded during a remarkable concert in Toronto, Canada. The album - which The Evening Standard calls raw, exhilarating, summery and sexy - captures the dynamism of the live show and takes us on a musical journey spanning the last ten years of Radio Tarifa. The record marks the band's fourth NonesuchWorld circuit release. Radio Tarifa is tremendously talented, with a unique sound. They combine flamenco sounds of Southern Spain with Arabic sounds from Northern Africa. They even use ancient arabic instruments. This song is by Radio Tarifa and appears on the live album Fiebre 2003.
