The Mosquito Control EP is the first studio release by American post-metal band Isis, released in 1998 by Escape Artist. The piece runs fluently through all 29 minutes, and all four songs are linked through consistent bouts of chaos and lyrics glued by the metaphor of using mosquitoes as a symbol for mankind, society and population control. The Mosquito Control EP introduces Isis's first major theme, the mosquito. The reissue of this EP features cover art depicting control towers. The Mosquito Control EP by ISIS, released 01 June 1998 1. Poison Eggs 2. Life Under The Swatter 3. Hive Destruction 4. Relocation Swarm. V There is a murky basesound on this EP, its raw and heavy. You just have to love that ISIS snare drum sound. Favorite track: Poison Eggs. Deen Llüks DAG. Deen Llüks DAG Still the best songs of ISIS, Raw and Original. Dustfan The Mosquito Control and The Red Sea EPs were the first studio releases by ISIS and showcase them in their infancy before they became known as one of the creators of the post-metal genre. LP 12 album, 33 rpm, Extended Play. Isis Rock Format: Vinyl. Since I reviewed the new Isis album Wavering Radiant, I figured I'd go back in time and give a review on Mosquito Control. Now, anyone expecting to find what Isis is doing nowadays on this album is going to be in for a brutal surprise. This album came out when Isis was a lot angrier and drawing a large degree of influence from Neurosis and Godflesh. Translation, it's heavy as all get out. The conceptual feel of this EP is also highlighted by the lyrics, which use mosquitoinsect references as a metaphor for a failed relationship. Hive Destruction showcases the band's riff-writing abilities at their best and is arguably the highlight here, but the whole EP is solid and should please anyone into this band. ISIS - Mosquito Control review: Raw and Primal, but definitely Isis. Review Summary: Raw and Primal, but definitely Isis. This first EP by Post metal heavyweights Isis is a teaser of the huge success and majestic soundscapes they would later create with Oceanic and Panopticon. It sounds more like Isis than you might think. The most surprising thing about this EP is that it could still be considered Post-metal. I expected there to be more of a dominant hardcoredoom sound and maybe some small hints of how their sound would later evolve, however they sounded far more like the Isis we know now than I expected
