He grew up in a ranching and rodeo family in the foothills of Southern Alberta, then spent early years of his career writing songs and playing bass for the indie rock band called the smalls. Lunds music reflects his Western heritage and rock and roll roots. His distinct blend of Americana-meets-roots-meets-alt-country has attracted accolades from critics in Canada and the U. who have called him one of the best contemporary country songwriters Popmatters and one of the 10 New Country Artists You Need to Know R. Following Live at the Edmonton Coliseum, also released in 2009, Lund issued Cabin Fever which. Corb Lund is a Canadian roots-country singersongwriter whose third album, Five Dollar Bill 2002, established him as a favorite among critics. Prior to his mainstream breakthrough, he was a member of the Smalls, a punk rock band from Edmonton that never attained commercial success but was a regional favorite during the 1990s. Born in Alberta, where he grew up on his familys farm in the small town of Taber, Lund moved to Edmonton to study music at Grant MacEwan Community College. In 1990 he co-founded the Smalls with a few college friends. Corb Lund named his long-time band The Hurtin Albertans one hungover morning, and their theme song is a lament: Too much oil money, not enough booze. The groups tenure has coincided with their provinces prosperity, although theyve always avoided the kind of brash, shiny bro-country that now dominates the genres airwaves. On their new album, Things That Cant Be Undone released Oct. 9, their stripped-down approach seems even more apt. Lunds last studio album, Cabin Fever, hit No. 1 in Canada, and its successor brings a sharp, 1960s-flavoured rock together with his trademark lonesome. NTSCRegion 0.
